Half-Life: Alyx is set to be released on March 23rd and users itching to lay their hands on the Valve Index VR headset for the ‘official’ Alyx experience have faced nothing but frustrations as the headset has been sold out for weeks. For the past two months or so, the headset has been heavily backordered. Many users feared that the much-anticipated title would arrive before the headset is once again available on sale.

Valve has now revealed that the product will go on sale once again on Monday March, 9th from 1Pm ET. However, the stock is likely to be limited and will likely sell out as a result of the high demand.

Valve has stated that the purchases that have been fulfilled beyond the initial limited quantity will be fulfilled in the order in which they have been received as the supplies gradually increase over the coming months. If you miss out on the Monday batch, you will have to put up with the inventory being fulfilled on a first-come-first-serve basis. This could be a long wait considering that the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) breakout is currently severely impacting production schedules.

Valve had promised that the Valve Index would be back in stock before the March 23 debut of the Half-Life: Alyx. The release date of the headset, two weeks to the release of game, will drive not only the headset sales but also the interest in the game. The Index headset is currently in high demand as it will offer the better Half-Life: Alyx experience. Users likely consider it the ‘official’ headset for the Alyx experience. The headset provides great image quality as well as motion tracking within a comfortable design that has immersive controllers.

However, the headset is expensive. The full kit goes for $999. You will also need a PC that is fast enough to handle the Valve Index headset. If you are simply looking for a good experience, you can pick any of the less expensive virtual reality headsets that are Half-Life: Alyx compatible.
