Meta Adds Additional Optional Insurance For Quest 2 and Quest Pro
Meta is now providing optional accidental damage insurance coverage for its Quest 2 and Quest Pro virtual reality headsets.
The program will enable users based in the US to insure their Meta Quest Pro and Meta Quest 2 headset against accidental damage. Meta is also providing corresponding protection for virtual reality headsets through its website thereby giving users the option for extending their one-year warranty.
The total insurance cost is $55 for the Quest 2 headset and $160 for the Quest Pro headset. The Meta Quest Pro was launched at the Connect 2022 event in early October and retails at $1,499. At this cost, some customers would be willing to consider insuring their VR headsets.
For a customer to tap into this insurance package in case of a claim, they have to take it out in the first 60 days after they have bought the headset. The insurance package will cover both the virtual reality headset and accessories, against accidental damage like spilled liquids or accidental drops. The coverage extends for up to 2 years after they have purchased the headset.
Owners can also claim the insurance on the refurbished VR headset models. However, they must have purchased the headset from an authorized dealer. Currently, the insurance rate for a refurbished headset is $55. This offer is only applicable to virtual reality headsets bought in the US.
