The Hitman Series is coming to virtual reality with Hitman 3 set to support PlayStation VR and Hitman and Hitman 2 Missions to be also be playable in virtual reality.

Last week during the State of Play showcase, the developer IO Interactive and Sony announced that the upcoming Hitman 3 will bring the whole Hitman trilogy to PlayStation VR when it launches in January 2021.

From next January, players will be able to sneak, hide and stab her way through all the locations in all the three games using their hands. The trilogy immerses players in the blood-stained shoes of Agent 47 in virtual experience. Experience the game like you have never seen it before.

The trailer shows the player stalking their quarry via a fancy party in first-person before taking them out like Agent 47. The trailer of the trilogy was unveiled during Sony’s State of Play stream which discusses upcoming PlayStation 4 as well as PlayStation VR games.

The full details on how this works in-game are yet to be announced. However, IO Interactive confirmed that every mission in Hitman, Hitman 2 as well as its upcoming Hitman 3 (which has been dubbed “World of Assassination Trilogy”) will be playable in VR.

It’s also unclear whether this mode will also be PlayStation VR exclusive or whether there will also be a PC version. Because IO is going it solo with this third entry (the first game was published by Square Enix and the second one by Warner Brothers), it is therefore possible that Sony might have secured PS VR exclusivity for this third installment like in Resident Evil 7. It also possible that game could make its way to the Valve Index, Rift and Vive simultaneously. There is no communication on this yet.

Hitman 3 launches in January 2021 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xobox Series X and PC.
