The first 3D movies are already being seen on the Apple TV app in the run-up to Apple’s Vision Pro headset launch next year.

During the launch of Apple’s Vision Pro headset at the WWDC event this year, the company showcased some of the entertainment features of the Vision Pro.

The recently redesigned tvOS 17.2’s Apple TV app now features a large selection of movies that show small 3D icons that look like a headset. These appear alongside the Dolby Atmos and 4K icons.

As these movies are not playable in 3D through the TV app without the Vision Pro headset, it isn’t clear the resolution and frame rate that they will run in.

At the WWDC mid this year, Apple’s showcase focused on a virtual movie screen that would be capable of showing 3D movies and documentaries. Now the first of those 3D movies are already appearing in the Apple TV app.

Apple TV Now Supports Vision Pro 3D Movies

FlatpanelsHD is reporting that the Apple TV’s redesigned app in tvOS version 17.2 is now supporting 3D movies. Additionally, 3D movies will feature a 3D logo resembling the shape of the Apple Vision Pro headset.

During the Apple Vision Pro launch, the movie Avatar: The Way of the Water was showcased but the movie’s two predecessors still aren’t there. However, Apple has also included other blockbusters such as Jurassic World: Dominion.
