The Co-Founders of Beat Saber Have Stepped Down From Beat Games
Beat Saber co-founders Ján Ilavský and Vladimír Hrinčár are departing from the studio they established in 2018, which was subsequently acquired by Facebook in 2019.
On Thursday, Ján Ilavský announced his resignation from the role of Creative Director at Beat Games. In his post on X, he reflected on the development of Beat Games over the years.
I have some news to share with you!
I am announcing my departure from the position of Creative Director at Beat Games.

He stated that the studio had managed to deliver countless music packs to the game along with plenty of “amazing new features.” Ján stated that the game’s feature looked “even more exciting” and that it is “just getting started.”
Ján Ilavský cited his desire to return to creating innovative games as the primary reason for his departure.
Just a few hours ago, co-founder Vladimír Hrinčár announced his resignation from the position of Head of Studio. Unlike Ilavský, he kept his announcement brief and did not provide any specific reasons for his departure.
Jaroslav Beck, the third co-founder of Beat Games, departed from the studio in May 2023 to pursue other projects.
Beat Saber Has Been Hugely Successful
In 2018, Ilavský, Hrinčár, and Beck founded Beat Games. That same year, Beat Saber debuted in early access on Steam, followed by a release on the Oculus Quest a year later. Towards the end of 2019, Facebook acquired Beat Games for an undisclosed sum.
Ola ola! I have some news to share. I’m graduating from Beat Saber and from my position as Head of Studio and will be leaving Beat Games. Big thanks to everyone on the team for all amazing things you do for the game, you guys rock and you got this! I wish Beat Saber all the best!
