Christopher Nolan’s ‘Interstellar’ Immersive Experience Coming to Select Theaters
Interstellar is an upcoming science fiction movie directed by the world renowned director Christopher Nolan. The movie features Hollywood’s most famous faces staring Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Michael Caine and Casey Affleck. The film is about a team of space explorers who are traveling through a newly discovered wormhole to find out whether mankind has a future among the stars as the Earth comes to an end. It will be screened on IMAX throughout the country. The movie is set to be released on November 7 worldwide.
Fans of virtual reality and Christopher Nolan’s movies are in a bit of a treat. Besides being screened on IMAX screens, the movie will now be shown through the Oculus Rift in select locations all over the country. Those who are unaware of the latest high end technology, the Oculus Rift is a virtual reality head mounted display through which you can experience a truly immersive environment. Virtual reality has unlimited applications including games, traveling, medical therapies, business world, industries and media. The consumer version of the product is supposed to be available in the summer of 2015.
As stated on the official website of Interstellar, film goers living in big cities such as New York, Houston, Washington D.C., and Los Angeles will have a unique chance to check out the incredible world of Interstellar with the use of the Oculus Rift VR headset. According to the site, ‘People can sit down, strap in, and immerse themselves as they travel through the ‘Endurance’ spacecraft in zero gravity through a custom ‘Interstellar’ Oculus Rift experience.’ The immersive experience will be first premiered in the New York City at the AMC Lincoln Square 13 from 6th to 8th October. From 17th to 19th October, it will be held on AMC Gulf Pointe 30 in Houston followed by a stop at the AMC Universal Citywalk Stadium 19 in Los Angeles from 25th to 27th October. The tour will conclude in Washington DC at the Smithsonian. The last stop will be the longest in the series – that will last from November 5 to December 6.
