Check Out Batman’s Batcave on the Oculus Rift
Based on the DC Comics superhero Batman, Batman: The Animated Series is a American animated television series by Bruce Timm that ran from 1992 to 1995. If you are a hardcore DC Comics fan, you will be delighted to hear that Warner Bros. has decided to bring Batman’s Batcave to the Oculus Rift. Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment have teamed up together to design an immersive and interactive holographic version of Timm’s Batcave for the Oculus Rift, Gear VR and other virtual reality devices.
For the recreation of Batcave in virtual environment, they have selected Otoy, a cloud rendering company based in Los Angeles. Bruce Timm, the producer of the 1992 show, has also been brought back on the team. The virtual demo is set to be released in the winter of 2014. About the experience, both companies have stated that it will be an ‘interactive narrative experience [which] will give fans the opportunity to explore Batman’s world like never before, allowing them to feel what it is like to be inside the show’s stylized universe’. Moreover, the experience will also assess the holographic video technology of Otoy. With the help of Otoy’s holographic video technology, Warner Bros. and Timm wish to reenact the series by considering every detail of it. Although the technology is quite new, it is specifically designed to generate accurate 3D spaces by using dynamic rays of light that reflect every object maintaining a lifelike and realistic vibe to it.
Sam Register, the president at Warner Bros. Animation, said that they are going to tell the story in a new and exciting way and the experiences will be shared with audiences throughout the world. For the very first time, the fans will be able to experience what the Batcave feels like by being able to explore and do activities in the lair. Register also said, ‘It’s super-cool, eye-popping stuff, and fans are going to love it.’
The virtual reality version of Batcave will be released on the ORBX viewer app and it will be available for VR devices such as Oculus Rift and Samsung Galaxy Gear VR.
