Oculus Rift Soon Receiving Support for Faceted Flight
Flight simulation video games and applications have always been immensely popular with the public; be they of any age or gender.
For this reason, developers are creating and releasing newer games in the flight simulation genre so their games can hit the top 10 list too. Faceted Flight is one of the new games launched in this genre. It was first revealed back in September of 2014, where a demo version of the game was shown to the public. Faceted Flight is a virtual reality compatible flight simulation game that seemed to be a hit when the demo was shown. Since the first glimpse, it is being shown around a lot of other technology related circles to give exposure and receive constructive criticism.
Faceted Flight has been developed by indie developer The Dept of Silly Stuff. It has been shown at numerous events, namely Unite 2014, the developer conference held for Oculus Connect and various other tech and virtual reality related meetings in Austin and Dallas. To secure a number of votes for Faceted Flight, a Steam Greenlight campaign has been launched by the developers. They hope to collect enough positive support to be able to release the title through Valve’s digital store.
The Dept of Silly Stuff has called the game an extremely fun experience, claiming its main goal is to capture the ‘exhilaration of flying’. Faceted Flight is a video game that has received support for Oculus Rift’s virtual reality headset. The developers have said that they made a special effort to try and completely eliminate the simulator sickness that occurs while playing flight simulations through virtual reality equipment. Players are asked to seat themselves inside the cockpit of a Hover Jet which they can then pilot across the sky. The cockpit has been given an original design and style, which makes it stand out from other planes.
The final version of Faceted Flight will include many other modes to play in but for now, only the demo version is available. This includes a ‘Ring Attack Mode’ in which players are given a finite amount of time within which they have to fly through as many rings as possible. The developer has mentioned adding multiplayer controls to the game to increase the level of competition and difficulty. The demo version of the game can be played using the second development kit (DK2) by Oculus Rift. Virtual Reality Times will keep following updates on Faceted Flight and report back with any and all further developments.
