Run Around and Explore with the Virtuix Omni VR Treadmill
The Virtuix Omni™ is the very first virtual reality device that offers the users to enjoy a deeply immersive experience by letting them stand up and walk freely around the virtual world. Anyone who enters the simulated virtual world and experiences it for the very first time just wants to explore the surroundings. It is their natural instinct to ‘move’ and ‘walk around’ the simulated world. It did not seem possible until Virtuix introduced us with Virtuix Omni, an omnidirectional treadmill. The gadget is affordable, compact and easy to assemble. The groundbreaking gaming device opened doors to a whole new set of possibilities.
It is common knowledge in the technology world that Virtuix wishes to display the consumer version of Omni omnidirectional treadmill to the public at Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2015 in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. The final version is almost ready for the consumers and the company plans to ship the much anticipated virtual reality device later this year.
The surprise came when Virtuix uploaded the video of the final version of the device on their website even before the beginning of CES. The video shows us a user strapping himself to the Omni treadmill with the help of a waist line ring. The latest version looks quite similar to the previous treadmill. The design, color scheme and kit look just the same. The company will start shipping the pre-ordered devices in April 2015. Currently, the Omni kit is priced $499 USD. The kit comes with a pair of specially designed Omni sneakers and the required software. Other parts of the device have to be bought separately such as racks for the controllers and so on.
The Omni is designed to engage your entire body. Whether you want your avatar to walk, run, strafe, sit, or leap in 360 degrees, the avatar is free to move without any restraints. The device gives users a real sense of involvement making Omni a unique video game peripheral for virtual reality games. What’s more, Omni keeps you healthy and in shape! It keeps count of the distance you have traveled and measure the calories you have burned along the way!
