Facebook Surround 360 – High Quality 360 Camera
Facebook introduced its new 3D-360 video camera, the Facebook Surround 360, a durable and high-quality camera system that makes 3D, spherical VR footage. It includes a stitching software that greatly reduces post-production time and effort. Facebook also enables people to use and learn from the code so they can design and build their own 360 cameras with off the shelf components.

“Connecting through VR is an amazing, immersive experience, and we want to do our part to make sure more people have a chance to experience it in the future. We’ve open sourced the Facebook Surround 360 Open Edition camera design and stitching code on GitHub to help developers and creators unlock ideas and innovate faster to accelerate the burgeoning 3D-360 ecosystem.”
The camera has a seamless automated stitching technology that vastly reduces post-production retouching efforts and a great amount of time. After shooting the video, people can use a Samsung Gear VR headset to view the end result as a 360 video with no hand fixing or processing.
