World’s First VR Job Recruitment Process
Jaguar Land Rover and Gorillaz worked together to recruit the best electronics and software engineering professionals with a code-breaking challenge in VR. Only the best performers will advance the recruitment process. This is a radical new way for businesses to look for potential candidates that aim to tackle the engineering skills gap in the technology companies and attract a diverse range of professionals and new thinking.
Jaguar Land Rover and Gorillaz Use VR Recruitment Tool
“Can you crack the code? Put your skills to the test!! Hey, maybe you might land yourself *the* most BADASS job you can imagine. Dare to win!” Said Noodle, the band’s guitarist, and a Jaguar Land Rover ambassador.
The Gorillaz App launched a 360-degree Jaguar Land Rover recruitment area that places applicants in the band’s garage. This area allows applicants to explore and take the two-part challenge.
The first challenge is actually oriented to educate visitors about the benefits of electric cars, it involves assembling a Jaguar’s electric sports car. Applicants will be able to learn about the electric car’s performance, space, charging, range, and battery technology.
The second challenge is more complicated, it was designed to engage and recruit electronic experts and coders, and it involves focusing on cracking code in Alternate Reality Game format (ARG). This part features a series of code-breaking puzzles meant to test applicants’ problem-solving skills, lateral thinking, persistence, and curiosity.
“As the automotive industry transforms over the next decade, fuelled by software innovation, we have to attract the best talent and that requires a radical rethink of how we recruit. Here we’ve found an engaging way to recruit a diverse talent pool in software systems, cyber systems, app development and graphics performance. It will be the first of its kind.” Said Alex Heslop, Head of Electrical Engineering, Jaguar Land Rover.
“This exciting collaboration between Gorillaz and Jaguar Land Rover adds an Alternative Reality Game layer to what is already a cutting edge mixed reality mobile experience combining AR, VR and 360.” Said Davor Krvavac, Executive Creative Director, B-Reel London.
