YouTube Introduces VR180 Videos
YouTube has been working with the team behind Google Daydream team to create a new video format that will make Virtual Reality content much easier to create.
VR180 is a New Video Format for VR Headsets and Screens
The new VR180 video format focuses on what’s in front of the viewer, with very high resolution, the best of all is that it looks great both on mobiles and desktops. The transition to Virtual Reality is seamless when you use a headset such as the PSVR, Daydream or Cardboard, which allows viewers to watch the images in 3-D. VR180 includes support for video live streaming so content creators and fans can engage in real time.
Creators are going to be able to set up and film VR movies just like they would do with a normal camera. They will also be able to edit their creations using tools like the Adobe Premiere Pro. It is the perfect way to create tutorials, vlogs, and even music videos that will look great in VR.
The VR180 format is only the beginning. Google and YouTube want to make cameras as easy to work with as possible. The Google Daydream team is already partnered with manufacturers to build especially designed VR180 cameras. This will enable content creators to easily make high-quality Virtual Reality content, from professional footage to simple VR recreations of our common lives and experiences with family or friends. Cameras are expected to be point-and-shoot to make it all easier, and anyone will be able to live stream or upload videos to YouTube in a simple way.
