Fox Sports Unveils Social VR for Soccer Gold Cup
Fox Sports is a pioneer in the Virtual Reality industry, it broadcasted the 51st Super Bowl via a VR suite and is now betting on the CONCACAF Gold Cup.
Fox Brings VR to the Gold Cup Soccer Championship
The event starts July 8th with a match between USA and Panama at 4:30 PM ET, and two more games after that, maybe the most important ones or those that involve the USA team. Fox is basically doing the same thing it did with the Super Bowl, but this time with Soccer, or as everyone else in the world calls it, football.
“We are thrilled to partner with CONCACAF and Buffalo Wild Wings in one of the most important soccer events of the year,” said Michael Davies, FOX Sports SVP Field & Technical Operations. “The massive feature set of this application keeps growing, and we think that social is a wildly important and seminal moment in the ongoing evolution of the technology.”
The Virtual Reality suite for the Gold Cup includes several camera angles to choose from, a lot of 360-degree pre-show videos, replay features, and more. This time the suite will be sponsored by Buffalo Wild Wings and you will be able to watch it with other friends.
People will only need to log to their Facebook accounts to watch the plays from the social lounge either alone or with friends. In case you have no friends (online at the moment) the app will get you some random ones, so it is a good chance to meet people that like the same sports as you do, watching sports in VT is the safest way to hang with strangers.
