Intel & Warner Bros Make Dunkirk VR Experience
Intel collaborated with Warner Bros and Practical Magic to create a VR experience that promotes Dunkirk, a film written and directed by Christopher Nolan.
Christopher Nolan’s Movie Has VR Promo Experience
The Dunkirk VR experience takes the player to three perspectives inside the film: land, sea, and air. In this Virtual Reality experience, viewers will be able to enjoy custom content in high-resolution 360-degree video. The experience delivers an overwhelming cinematic retelling of the emblematic Battle of Dunkirk in the World War II.
Intel is always advancing Virtual Reality technology a bit further, this time with Dunkirk, the development process required state-of-the-art equipment, techniques, and software to fulfill the specific timelines and creative requirements of Warner Bros, one of Hollywood’s best filmmakers.
360-degree videos are usually created for standard HD and 4K media, but in this opportunity, Practical Magic had to work with images 40 times that resolution. The company had to use Dell Blade Servers and PCs with Intel Xeon processors in order to make it possible.
The movie itself won’t be out until July 21st, but you can already play the VR experience, which is now available for the HTC Vive, Oculus and Samsung Gear VR headsets. You can also watch it on a computer through Facebook 360 or YouTube but it won’t be as immersive as in a VR headset.
Intel continues to allow creative developers to deliver amazing and immersive VR experiences worldwide, from working with top Hollywood studios, renowned content creators and experts from the field. There are many great things to come and we are sure Intel will have something to do with them.
