New York Times VR App Launches on Samsung Gear VR
The New York Times announced that its NYT VR app is available for the Samsung Gear VR; it offers a streamlined immersive experience with high-quality video.
New York Times’ Immersive Stories on the Samsung Gear VR
The New York Times’ Virtual Reality app is now available in the Oculus Store for Samsung Gear VR users. The app features countless immersive experiences with unparalleled video and audio quality. Users are even able to watch these experiences in 4K resolution.
The app features a full library of exclusive NYT VR films, and it also showcases select films from The Daily 360, which are immersive videos from NYT journalists from all over the world created exclusively with Samsung Gear 360 cameras.
The NYT VR app for the Samsung Gear VR was developed in collaboration with Secret Location, a VR, and technology studio for emerging platforms, MPC, and VR sound partner Mach1.
“We’re very excited to bring our NYT VR app to Gear VR,” said Jordan Vita, associate product manager, The New York Times. “The platform offers a significant opportunity to expose new audiences to our virtual reality journalism and empowers us for future innovation in the medium.”
The NTT VR app debuted in November of 2015, and since then, the app has been downloaded over than 1.2 million times and you can also find it on Google Play for Android and Daydream devices and in the iOS App Store for iPhone users. The New York Times plans to launch several exclusive films in 2017 and they will all be available for Gear VR, you can’t miss them.
