Viveport celebrates its first anniversary by rolling out a host of new Viveport platform features for developers and also a boost to their revenue share.

Viveport Scene SDK, Arcade Manager Open Beta, And More…

In only 12 months, Viveport added dozens of new features, thousands of new virtual experiences and the first Virtual Reality subscription service in the industry.

“From launching the first-ever subscription model for a VR app store to exceeding 1,000 titles available globally, to over 26,000 registered developers in our community, Viveport has grown by leaps and bounds over the past year,” said Rikard Steiber, President of Viveport. “We enter year two with exciting new features and improvements to continue our commitment to providing the best VR experience for Viveport customers and the most monetization options for developers.”

Developer Revenue Share 

As a way to thank developers for having contributed to the success of Viveport during its first year, they will all keep the entirety of the profits they make during the 2017 holiday season.

Viveport Arcade Manager

The VR arcade platform it’s now entering open beta and thanks to the feedback, Viveport Arcade Manager will receive new upgrades to the benefit of operators and developers alike. Developer revenue share will increase from 50% to 70% in addition to the holidays’ entire profits.

Viveport Scene SDK

Viveport also announced the early release of the Viveport Scene SDK, which a new toolset that helps developers create all sorts of immersive VR Previews to showcase them in Viveport. It will enable developers to engage customers with their content before rental or purchase, by generating VR Previews and VR Skyboxes (360 preview images).

“Our research has shown that customers vastly prefer VR previews over screenshots and videos to inform their purchasing decision,” said Drew Bamford, Corporate Vice President of HTC Vive’s Creative Labs. “We are thrilled that the Viveport Scene SDK will provide developers with a new avenue for discoverability and engagement on the Viveport store.”

Last but not least, HTC Vive announced that is now an investor and strategic partner of VRChat. VRChat allows users to create, publish and explore VR worlds with other users from all around the world and it is now available on Viveport.
