Indie developers Tinker Pilot Team have come up with their new and ambitious project which will enable players to import 3D digital objects into their upcoming space flight simulation games.

The Tinker Pilot Team wants to give players the experience of creating a 1:1 flight and the ability to match the digital representations in the game to the real items that they already have such as the cup holders, HOTAS flight sticks and much more.

The virtual reality experience has been designed to enable users create similar “surreal” or hyper-realistic virtual reality effects that location-based entertainment provides. Having an experience where the physical objects will match the in-game rendering makes for a very powerful and almost surreal level of immersion.

The game developers have not mentioned any specific game dynamics or the open world environment so it is still not clear whether Tinker Pilot will have these things. Without these, the game will have the feel of a hardware hacker’s space-based dream machine as opposed to a missions-focused gameplay that involves pirating missions, trading missions or online play.

The Tinker Pilot Team studio is working on more than just games. It is also engrossed in the development of a Unity software tool dubbed ‘TinkerCore VR System’ which will be used in transforming the Unity experience into a 1:1 immersive virtual reality experience.

Apart from making it possible for users to access the Unity experience, the studio also supports the importing of 3D objects. They have also implemented a serial communication interface which will connect to specific hardware like microcontrollers in order to perform some specific functions.

The Tinker Pilot Team’s creation of the Unity tool will enable a superb driving experience for the Tinker Pilot virtual reality game and with its the incorporation of the digital objects, the studio has taken the flight simulator game to impressive levels of immersion.

Both the Tinker Pilot game along with TinkerCore virtual reality system are currently under development by the studio.
