The Wizards to Land on Oculus Quest this Week
The spellcasting virtual reality game The Wizards will be seeing an Oculus Quest debut this Thursday.
The game was launched in early 2018 on the PC VR. Then, in March 2019, the game debuted on PlayStation VR along with a major update known as The Wizards -Enhanced Edition thereby incorporating a new “expansive” level along with new locomotion options and mechanics.
The Wizards consists of an approximately five-hour campaign with rich content along with a replyable Arena mode that has three environments.
The PlayStation version of the game was quite impressive with a spellcasting system that was highly interactive and not too cumbersome. The campaign mode of the game included rich content. There were also a lot collectibles, a replayable Arena mode along with mission augmentations which together make for very fun and richly-featured gameplay. It was not all perfect, though, as there were plenty of repetition, recycled wave-shooter-style mission structures as well as a shorter length that take away from the creativity. With some extra creativity and additions, it would be one of those compelling virtual reality spellcasting games.
This will not be the first spellcasting game slated for Oculus Quest. Oculus Studios developed its own version, The Unspoken, with Insomniac Games although it hasn’t revealed whether it will be coming to the Oculus Quest headset. While Insomniac has been mentioned as a developer of the game, it could be launched under a new title for Quest.
However, Quest users will appreciate a fully-fledged spellcasting game such as The Wizards as the platform currently has mainly casual games for its users.
The price has yet to be divulged or even whether the platform will allow support cross-buy with Oculus Rift. Expect more information to revealed about this in the coming months.
The $399 Oculus Quest headset was just released last month and has seen a very robust uptake in the past few weeks. It was sold out within the first week in many of the leading retail outlets.
