The US-based startup Immersed is currently building an app that will enable remote workers to meet in VR, network and be productive.

Immersed VR will offer users a variety of virtual environments and rooms that will allow up to 8 employees and creatives to meet, share their screens and draw on virtual whiteboards during their virtual networking. They will be able to accomplish these from anywhere as long as they have a compatible virtual reality headset.

Oculus Quest already has various social VR apps such as Rec Room and Bigscreen but Immersed V is the first of its kind that is geared specifically on the productive aspect of collaboration. It is focused on boosting productivity within a virtual networking environment.

The standalone Oculus Quest headsets will make using a virtual boardroom a breeze for users. The low Quest price also means that this VR collaborative platform will be more accessible to users than your typical enterprise VR headset. However, the Quest resolution and comfort may still be a limiting factor in longer meetings or work sessions.

The team at Immersed VR has vowed to continue working on accessibility.

Immersed VR was founded in 2017 by Renji Bijoy and currently has six employees living in different locations and who are able to work together using the Immersed VR app. The app is better suited for chat or video conferencing applications as it is as close as possible that you can have to a real session in a virtual environment.

The Immersed VR team will be working on controller-free interaction to make the virtual collaboration more seamless and accessible. Bijoy has said he wants the technology to be as simple and accessible as possible to the average non-techie user.

Immersed VR’s official website is currently offering users various packages including a free basic package and two professional versions for a monthly subscription. There is a version for enterprise users that is currently under development.

Apart from Oculus Quest, the app also supports Oculus Go and the Samsung Gear VR.
