HTC’s Vive Reality System was first unveiled early this year and it has been designed to totally revamp the current Viveport user experience and replace the existing user interface with a VR-optimized interface.

The Vive Reality System includes various elements such as the avatar system and the personal VR home known as the “Origin” from which one can launch the virtual experience either alone or with friends. The Origin concept is similar to that of Facebook’s Oculus Home or the SteamVR environment.

At the heart of the Vive Reality System are the redesigned user interfaces known as Lens that aim to provide all users with access to tools, information along with Viveport apps. It will, for example, enable owners to jump between environments.  The Lens interface allows users to seamlessly navigate the various XR Viveport Infinity apps. The Lens system is activated via the system button.

The Lens also gives users access to Mozilla’s WebVR-optimized Firefox Reality browser which is the newest default browser for all Vive headsets. In the future, HTC is promising to introduce a native and integrated web browser along with additional social experiences.

HTC’s new Vive Cosmos virtual reality headset will be released on October 3 and is retailing at $800. Unlike the Vive Pro and the Vive Pro Eye, the Vive Cosmos virtual reality headsets target the consumer market.
