The Nreal Light augmented reality glasses are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 development kit and are thus based on the Android operating system. This allows developers to build mixed reality applications.

Apart from the Snapdragon 845, the developer version of the glasses also features a 3DoF controller that has a touchpad and vibration motor. The whole package goes for $1,195.

The worldwide shipping for the glasses begins in December and should go on continuously afterwards. Upon placing an order, customers will receive information on when they can expect the delivery of the glasses. According to Nreal founder Chi Xu, the existing augmented reality apps will be ported to Nreal hardware.

For shortsighted users, Nreal will provide a set of corrective lenses that will include 15 spare lenses which will be available in different thicknesses. These will cost $500.

A consumer version of the augmented reality glasses will arrive in the first half of 2020 and will cost $500. However, it will not include a pocket computer. Instead, users will have to connect smartphones like Samsung Galaxy Fold, Samsung Galaxy S5, Xiaomi Mi.9, Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G, Sony Xperia 1, LG G8 ThinQ and LG V50 ThinQ. It will be connected as a player using a USB-C connection.
