A few weeks back, Facebook pulled out of the 2020 Game Developers Conference (GDC) over coronavirus concerns and the show was eventually cancelled. Facebook is now planning to host an online showcase next week for its upcoming virtual reality titles.

The Facebook: Game Developers Showcase will be held from March 16th to March 19th.  The showcase will start at 10am Pacific time (5pm GMT) on March 16th.

On March 24th, Facebook Gaming will hold its own announcements. Facebook Gaming is Facebook’s streaming branch. It won’t likely be in the form of an announcement video. It is more likely to be in the form of a series of blog posts on the Oculus Blog during those days which will detail the various upcoming games on Oculus Quest and Oculus Rift.

The titles confirmed so far include The Room VR: A Dark Matter, Beat Saber, Pistol Whip, Phantom: Covert Ops and Lies Beneath. There is likely going to be new trailers, footage as well as announcements for the titles. Some of these are expected to be released a few weeks from now.

The GDC showcase has traditionally been the platform where Facebook showcases new Virtual Reality games. Following its cancellation over COVID-19 fears, it appears this online showcase will fill in on that. At the moment, it is still unclear whether Facebook plans to make brand new game announcements.

Apart from the showcase slated for next week, Facebook is also planning to launch three new videos on March 19. This, too, appears to be aimed at filling in on the talks that Facebook was delivered at the GDC.

Here are the three videos:-

  • VR Business Best Practices
  • Best Practices for Launching Games on Oculus
  • The Future of Playing Together and Where Multiplayer is Going in VR

Log in next week for the latest on the games Facebook plans to showcase.
