BattleScar Coming to SteamVR in 2020
BattleScar is a searing and action-packed virtual reality film starring Rosario Dawson. The VR film was unveiled last year at the Raindance and it seems that everyone will now get to see it as the game has been listed on SteamVR and is set for release before the end of the year.
No exact date for the SteamVR debut has been announced yet but according to the Steam page, the game will be released towards the end of this year. It’s still not apparent whether the app will also be available elsewhere. The developer Atlas V recently added other immersive experiences such as Gloomy Eyes to the Quest platform so there is a likelihood that BattleScar might also make its way to the standalone platform.
The VR movie was directed by Martin Allais and Nico Casavecchia. It was created by Atlas V which collaborated with 1stAveMachine, ARTE France, RYOT and Fauns and Kaleidoscope. The movie is voiced by Rosario Dawson who suddenly finds herself immersed in the 1970s’ New York punk scene with Debbie, a friend whom she had met in juvenile detention. The two embark on a quest to make a mark for themselves on the scene, a quest that leads to various hectic adventures.
The film is fast-paced and it switches the storytelling styles rapidly and suddenly. The plot revolves around Lupe who is a young Puerto Rican-American voiced by Rosario Dawson. Lupe chances on the ferocious Debbie while flirting on a New York jail cell. Lupe is taken under her wings and bonds with her over outrage and disillusionment as the two plot on how to relay their plight on stage with the backdrop of a repetitive thud of punk rock music. The two face various misadventures in their quest.
BattleScar is unpredictable and erratic in the delivery. It brings forth new storytelling techniques to the player over the course of the film’s runtime which lasts about 30 minutes. The erratic delivery is such that no two instances will be the same whether they are a fleeting ride on a motorcycle where the wind does not quite strike at your face or the clash of drums and words as Lupe spouts her frustrations from her mind to page.
If you are interested in seeing VR filmmaking, particularly narrative-driven VR, this will certainly be a must-watch movie. The quality of the VR rendition is impressive.https://virtualrealitytimes.com/2020/08/16/battlescar-coming-to-steamvr-in-2020/https://virtualrealitytimes.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/BattleScar.jpghttps://virtualrealitytimes.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/BattleScar-150x90.jpgGamingTechnologyBattleScar is a searing and action-packed virtual reality film starring Rosario Dawson.
