Facebook: Over 60 Oculus Quest Titles Have Now Grossed $1 Million in Revenues
Facebook Reality Labs Vice President Andrew ‘Boz’ Bosworth has released a short update of its Quest game and app revenues via Twitter, revealing that more than 60 titles have now grossed more than $1 million in revenues on the Quest platform, up from 35 titles in September 2020.
Facebook doesn’t generally release stats on its headset sales which makes it difficult to quantify the growth of its VR unit. However, the tech giant occasionally releases some stats that gives us some context on the performance of its Quest headset, the retention as well as the growth, in the absence of the hard figures.
One of these stats is the number of Oculus Quest titles that have grossed more than $1 million in revenues on the platform that Facebook frequently releases updates on.
In March 2020, Facebook had noted that 20 Oculus Quest titles had grossed more than $1 million in revenues on the Quest platform. In September of the same year, Facebook revealed that this number had grown to 35 titles.
Now Facebook is revealing that the number has grown to more than 60 titles, almost doubling over a period of four months. Bosworth made the announcement today via Twitter. The new figure of 60 titles now means that close to 30% of all the apps on the Quest store have now grossed more than $1 million in revenues.

The update on the Quest content performance came on the same day that Facebook boss Mark Zuckerberg released its Q4 2020 earnings call with investors. During the release, the Facebook boss volunteered some strong comments where he stated that the new Oculus Quest 2 headset is now on track to becoming the “first mainstream virtual reality headset.”
The other key takeaway from Zuckerberg’s earnings call was that Facebook had doubled its ‘Other’ revenue from $346 million in the fourth quarter (Q3) of 2019 to $885 million in the fourth quarter of 2020. This ‘Other’ category doesn’t only constitute the Quest hardware and also includes Facebook’s other non-advertising revenues as well as hardware like the Portal devices. However, many Facebook executives have indicated that this growth was driven by strong Quest sales during the holidays.
