The title was announced suddenly on Twitter this week. It was originally developed as a tech demo for DK1 by the developer Llŷr ap Cenydd. After doing a couple of other demos in the past few years for different devices, the developer shifted his focus towards the development of Crashland as a full Oculus Quest title.
Crashland will be a full release on the Oculus Quest Store for Quest and won’t be an App Lab app or a SideQuest release.
The developer describes the game as a VR action-horror game where the player is cast as an “intergalactic gladiator” that crash lands on an unknown planet and must fight their way to survive until help comes along. The player is pitted against “hellworms in the desert” along with “terror birds in the forest, scorpions in the mist and spiders in the dark”, according to the description by the developer.
The game includes 24 missions and 50 different creatures. You can peek at some of these creatures in the trailer below.
In a tweet posted by the game’s Twitter account, the trailer is a little “restrained” in the creatures that it is showing and the second half of the game will offer players a few more surprises.
As players glide through the missions, they will be earning the experience and level up the game to unlock new perks like slow motion, a teleport punch, turrets and much more.
Crashland came out on Thursday February 25th for Oculus Quest and costs $19.99. Information on the game’s website states that Crashland release for other virtual reality confirms will be confirmed (at a later date, we presume).
