Oculus Android App Has Now Been Downloaded 5 Million Times
Users need the Oculus app to set up a new Oculus Quest 2, Oculus Quest, or Oculus Go app. The app can also be used to remotely trigger PC VR games to also download. The Oculus Android app download stats aren’t an accurate metric for determining the size of the Quest userbase but the download stats have increased fivefold between 2019 and 2021. In 2019, the download stats stood at just 1 million.
Facebook doesn’t divulge any sales figures for its hardware products but the game sales on its Quest platform have continued to surge, particularly following the release of the Quest and Quest 2 headsets. For instance, The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners grossed more than $29 million on all VR platforms in its first year while Beat Saber has now sold more than 4 million copies. More than 60 different apps on Quest have so far grossed more than $1 million in revenues. All these are key signals that VR is seeing strong growth momentum.
The Quest 2 headset has been particularly successful for Facebook. Less than six months following its release, the headset is already the most used across the entire Steam ecosystem even though it isn’t even marketed as a PC VR-first headset. The Oculus Quest headset is fully standalone but it can also be used to play PC VR content when it is connected to a VR-ready PC via an Oculus Link cable or a Virtual Desktop setup.https://virtualrealitytimes.com/2021/03/04/oculus-android-app-has-now-been-downloaded-5-million-times/https://virtualrealitytimes.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Oculus-Android-App-600x467.pnghttps://virtualrealitytimes.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Oculus-Android-App-150x90.pngBusinessOculusThe Oculus Android app has now had over 5 million downloads on the Google Play Store.
