New Details and New Gameplay Trailer for Sniper Elite VR Ahead of Release on 8 July
With Sniper Elite VR set for a July 8 release on all the major virtual reality headsets, the developer Rebellion is ramping for the release date with a new gameplay trailer as well as new details on the game. These are giving us a clearer look at the game.
Sniper Elite VR isn’t a port but a brand new made-for-VR title that is based on the Sniper Elite franchise which has been running for quite some time. The studio recently released a breakdown video confirming that players won’t be playing the role of the usual protagonist in the series, Karl Fairburne. Instead, they will be cast in the role of an Italian soldier recounting some horrifying war stories.
The breakdown video also explains that Sniper Elite VR will feature 18 missions. The studio has also promised replayability because the players will be able to decide on whether to go stealth mode or with guns blazing.
Beyond the use of pistols, sniper rifles, shotguns, SMGs, and explosives, there is also the possibility that the game will feature some melee as long as a player can find some hammer to crack skulls.
The non-VR versions of the game will have a camera following the bullet all the way to its target but it looks like the VR version will feature some smart cuts that will make the transitions less jarring while providing the player with a close-up look of the gruesome destruction going on. The famous skull-shattering X-ray kill cam in the game is therefore coming to Sniper Elite VR in a more comfortable way.
Rebellion has also promised a range of locomotion options in the game such as smooth movement as well as teleport. Recently, the studio unveiled a new but brief glimpse of the gameplay in the Sniper Elite VR. The age-restricted video is available on YouTube.
Sniper Elite VR is being released on July 8th on all the major VR headsets including Oculus Quest, Oculus Rift, SteamVR as well as on PSVR (with Aim support).
