Pico Interactive Unveils Its G3 VR Headset
Pico Interactive unveiled the Pico G3 VR headset at the Laval Virtual Conference in France. The G3 is a successor to the company’s Pico G2 headset.
Pico G3 is a standalone virtual reality headset that targets business uses in sectors such as education, healthcare, marketing, and training.
The Pico G3 headset is powered by the Snapdragon XR2 processor. It packs 128GB of storage and 6Gb of RAM, assuring users of powerful and faster computing and smoother virtual reality experience. The headset features a 4K resolution display. It packs a 5300 mAh battery that assures users of several hours of operation.
Costing just EUR399, pre-orders for the headset start from April 12th with shipping set to begin in early May. The G3 headset looks like the Pico Neo 3 Pro.
Pico G3 Offers Business Features
Pico was keen on making the headset business friendly. The comp any says it wants offer businesses the requisite tools needed to power their growth, create new business opportunities and realize their goals.
It offers the Pico Business Suite that is integrated into the headset and gives users advanced customization capabilities and access to its content partner ecosystem Pico Business Store. There will also be support from local sales teams.
However, with its 3DoF, the headset is already technically outdated. The Pico 4 headset is a 6DoF and also has a more appealing form factor. The 3DoF Pico G3 headset is also costs almost the same as the 6DoF Pico 4.
The Pico 4 headset enterprise edition costs over $1,000. The G3 headset focuses on the enterprise market and addresses the specific requirements of companies, particularly when it comes to the customization features and security options.
Price will be a key factor. The Pico 4, like Meta’s Quest line, has been subsidized for the consumer market.
Some customers will likely opt for a 3DoF headset due to the Pico’s G-Series frequent use in kiosk mode in one-off applications like trade shows and demonstrations where fast content delivery and ease of use are key.
Pico says the G3 headset provides businesses with a powerful headset via its secure and trusted platform that offers enterprises world-class support, enabling them to meet their needs via an affordable headset.
Although this is not a cutting-edge next-generation headset, it will likely serve the specific needs in the enterprise market and may, thus, be a better alternative to Pico’s aging G2 headset.
