Valve had previously stated that the next Half-Life series would arrive sometime in March. It has now kept the promise. The much-anticipated Half-Life series will now arrive in just under over six weeks.
Half-Life: Alyx was announced in November last year and will be a VR-exclusive. It will also be the first Half-Life game in 13 years. Half-Life: Alyx has been set between Half-Life and Half-Life 2 and is a prequel to the second game.
Valve has stated that it will be a full-length title which has been designed to be played for several hours at a time. Should it be success, Valve has promised that it could launch more Half-Life titles in the future.
The Plot
Half-Life: Alyx tells the impossible story of humanity’s fight against a vicious race of aliens known as the Combine. The player is cast as Alyx Vance who is humanity’s only hope for survival.
Since it’s a VR-exclusive, you will need a Virtual Reality headset to play the game. You can purchase the game now for $53.99. There will be pre-order bonuses from March 2 which will include Steam VR Home environments that have been inspired by the locations in Half-Life: Alyx.
The first Half-Life game arrived in 1998. Half-Life 2 came in 2004 while Half-Life 2: Episode One arrived in 2016. Half-Life 2: Episode Two came in 2007. Both episodes were shorter games. Since 2007, fans have eagerly awaited the launch of the third installment of the popular franchise.
If you wish to pass sometime and familiarize yourself with the Half-Life series ahead of the release of Half-Life: Alyx, you can try out all the previous Half-Life series on the monitor: Half-Life, Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Episode One and Half-Life 2: Episode Two all of which are now freely available.
