VR Power Battery Pack Accessory for Oculus Quest Begins Shipping
The creator of the VR Power Quest accessory Rebuff Reality confirmed on Twitter early this week that battery accessory has began shipping. Users who pre-ordered the VR Power Oculus Quest battery pack are in luck.
However, the company also cautioned that the battery pack is still heavily backordered on its website. It appears that the kit is still widely popular with many users. It isn’t clear when it will be more readily available for users to order.
The VR Power battery pack performs two important functions in the standalone Oculus Quest headset. Firstly, it supplies enough power to extend your Quest sessions for up to 8 hours of gameplay or up to 10 hours for video watching. Apart from providing backup power, the device is also strapped at the back of the headset’s headstraps and therefore acts as a counterweight for the front-heavy design of the Quest headset. It kills two birds with one stone so to speak.
The device was trialed during this year’s CES. Initial testers gave it largely positive reviews. With the backup power strapped on, they were able to turn their heads nimbly and dodge bullets in VR experiences from all angles while the headset stayed in place. According to some testers, the VR Power backup battery not only made the headset more comfortable but it also enables them to feel more immersed into the virtual reality experience.
VR Power isn’t the only virtual reality device facing backorders. The Valve Index headset is also heavily backordered on the back of the surging demand for following the announcement of the Half-Life: Alyx game whose release date has now been set to March 23rd.
