Oculus Rift

The Oculus Rift marketing and PR team have done an immense job of keeping the anticipation of consumers at a very high pitch for the past couple years. But there seems to be some kind of confused dissent about the exact date of release for the mainstream user.

The Oculus Rift was first revealed to the market almost 2 years ago. Since then, the developers have been divulging very little information about exactly when the product should be expected to launch fully. Excited customers have been waiting with bated breath for months and almost everyone seems to be getting tired of this delay that does not seem to be ending any time soon.

The fever pitch of excitement is understandable of course, considering the product. Oculus Rift is a virtual reality headset that allows players to step into their preferred games and worlds of virtual gaming. So, for a serious gamer this is basically the best new thing in this generation’s technology. The developers added a top of the range custom tracking technology to the Rift that gives the player the ultimate experience in gaming. The technology built in this headset offers 360° head tracking which gives an impression of looking around the virtual world exactly as you would in real life. The experience has been called “outstanding” and “completely natural” by beta testers of the headset.

With that kind of product’s promised release in limbo, the die hard fans will obviously voice complaints. The CEO of Oculus Rift – Brendan Iribe – was recently interviewed by Bloomberg at the Dublin Web Summit and supposedly said that the Oculus Rift will be available for the public consumer in the near future. However, this claim has been contradicted by Iribe himself later at some point in the conference, where he mentioned that the release date may not be voiced for many months to come.

No one seems to know when exactly the Oculus Rift headset will be launched into the market for gamers to enjoy. The management team has done an applause worthy job of keeping expectations high about the product. They have released very well chosen reviews and articles about the product and it’s appeal with reference to virtual reality gaming experience. But with the lack of a specific date looming in the future, the Oculus Rift team may be in danger of losing customer support. Virtual Reality Times will closely follow the progress of Oculus Rift launch release date and update you about any new details, whenever they are released!
