Online sneaker marketplace GOAT has launched a new augmented reality “try on” feature that allows users to virtually try on some of the hottest, rarest and most exclusive sneakers in the world without having to spend a fortune for the privilege.

The new feature adds to GOAT’s growing lineup of augmented reality features, effects and other initiatives launched in the recent past. Recently, the company unveiled the pre-release of Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG in augmented reality before their official launch early this year. That augmented reality rendering had allowed users to get a feel of the materials and textures used in the exclusive sneakers in much greater detail.

GOAT’s latest augmented reality experience allows its 20 million users to experience some of the world’s rarest and most coveted sneakers in the world and see how these look on their feet. The Try On feature works anywhere.

The AR Try-On will be available through the home screen and it functions separate from the sneaker browsing and shopping features available in the app. The feature will pull the phone’s app and allow users to virtually “try on” the following 12 exclusive sneaker collections:-

  • Dunk High Premium Deftones
  • Dunk High Le ‘Wu Tang’
  • Dunk High SB Pro FLOM
  • Dunk High SB ‘Iron Maiden’
  • Air Force 1 High L/M ‘Stash’
  • Air Force High Headauto ‘Head Automatica’
  • Travis Scott x Air Jordan 4 Retro ‘Purple Suede’
  • Stash x Future x Air Force 1 Low ‘Inside/Out’
  • Undefeated x Air Jordan 4 Retro
  • Air Yeezy ‘Glow in the Dark Tour’ Sample
  • Roc-A-Fella x Air Force 1 ‘The Black Album’
  • Fragment Design x Air Jordan 3 Retro Sample

Some of these sneakers are extremely rare and the augmented reality feature is only created as a gimmicky feature that lets you play around with the various rare designs in augmented reality. In the future, GOAT is likely to roll out these features for actual sneakers in its inventory that users can actually order. It is likely to have a more practical value should it be implemented on actual shoe listings on the marketplace.

The augmented reality feature is powered by Wannaby which has also launched its own standalone app that leverages a similar technology.

GOAT’s ambitious digital innovations have not gone unnoticed. Apart from the traditional sneaker retailers and brands, the company has also attracted $100 million investment from Foot Locker.

If you are using an iOS device, you can update the app and get access to the AR Try-On feature via the app’s homepage.
