Microsoft Flight Simulator VR Update Launches Next Week
The Microsoft Flight Simulator is getting a VR update this week that will also include some festive treats.
The developer Asobo revealed via an Xbox blog post last week that its December 22nd update will also include a real-time snow as well as true-to-life coverage that will span the planet. The update will also include new plane liveries. The snow action should be interesting and should definitely have an exciting effect on the Flight Sim’s rendition of the real-world which is already nothing short of captivating.
Asobo also revealed that the Microsoft Flight Simulator now has a total of 2 million pilots who have altogether piloted more than 50 million flights in the game. The most popular destination of the game is New York. To date, players have already covered approximately 72% of the earth’ surface in their flights as illustrated by the above infographic.
The Flight Sim’s Virtual Reality support will enable headset owners to gain access to the whole game. The VR support was unveiled earlier in the year as a timed exclusive for the Windows Mixed Reality platform. However, it will now launch on all the platforms simultaneously.
The Virtual Reality update will come as part of one of several drops that have been planned for the Flight Sim such as its upcoming updates to the UK along with other locations. An Xbox launch is also slated for next year but it is unlikely to include any virtual reality support since the Xbox consoles still do not have any VR features.
