Marvel Games has finally announced the release date for its Iron Man VR title. During the Marvel Games panel at the New York Comic Con, Marvel announced that Iron Man debut on the PlayStation VR on 28th February, 2020. The title was initially slated for a 2019 debut but the date has now been pushed forth to early next year. The game’s developer Camouflaj has also released the new story trailer of the game which focuses Tony Shark’s nemesis, Ghost:

Marvel also shared details about the Iron Man VR game for PSVR during the panel. The game was first announced early this year. The first story trailer of the title is already out as the VR game will be based on a unique original story.

The story line in Iron Man VR revolves around Stark, who has retired from making weapons and is now spending more of his time assisting his alter ego in his battle against evil. However, Ghost is still holding a grudge against Stark after witnessing the devastating impact of his weapons.

In Marvel’s comics, Ghost is Iron Man’s long-time antagonist.

In Iron Man VR, Tony Stark is in trouble after his defense industry clients inflict some significant collateral damage with his weapons. Ghost comes along to do the antagonizing. In this title, Ghost is a woman just like in the character in the movie Ant-Man and the Wasp released last year.

In the movie Ant-Man and The Wasp, Ghost is cast as a hacker and anti-corporate activist who is repurposing Stark’s old weapons. Ghost attacks Stark’s locations across the planet and this results in a showdown with Iron Man.

The game’s developing studio Camouflaj has stated the story has been inspired by the comics along with the Marvel Cinematic Universe although it is not an adaptation of either of these.

Before Ant-Man and the Wasp came out, Camouflaj had already proposed making Ghost a woman. It is therefore an interesting coincidence that she is indeed cast as a woman and perhaps an indication that the studio has been thinking in the same direction with the creators of Marvel.

The developer has also revealed what is included in the $50 Iron Man VR digital deluxe edition. There is the game which costs $40 along with 12 research points that will unlock the weapons and upgrades much earlier than the player would have done through the gameplay alone; there is also a digital copy of the soundtrack; a PS4 theme along with four Iron Man armor skins.

Pre-order bonuses will give you four additional Iron Man looks, a one-month trial of Marvel Unlimited and a second theme.
