Microsoft Flight Sim VR Will No Longer Be a Timed Exclusive
Microsoft Flight Sim VR is set to arrive in December and will available on all the SteamVR headsets simultaneously.
Virtual Reality support for the Microsoft Flight Simulator was announced back in July this year with the developer Asobo revealing that the VR support would first arrive for the Mixed Reality headsets with a launch on the HP Reverb G2. The developer had also stated that support for other VR devices would arrive later after the launch.
In a livestream that confirmed the December launch of the flight sim, the developer also revealed that the launch will now be available on all virtual reality headsets at the same time. Executive Producer Martial Bossard confirmed that the game will be supported in “every family of headset”. It isn’t clear yet whether the game will also be supported on Oculus Store but the support should be available in the SteamVR version of the game.
There is the ongoing private beta for the Flight Simulator VR Support that did a phased testing approach beginning with the WMR headsets so, initially, there was a timed exclusivity for the platform but it was not the one that was expected.
According to the studio, the update now goes live towards the end of December and there is a video that outlines VR support on December 17th. Beyond this, the new World Update will offer a UK makeover in January. Planning to try out the Microsoft Flight Sim next month? Let us know in the comment section.
